Hello
Hi, I'm Laurel! I have over 10 years of professional animal care experience, including work as a farmhand and at a Humane Society. I can’t remember a time without an animal in the home — cats, dogs, chickens, rabbits, rats, fish, you name it! After owning a reactive dog, making many mistakes and learning so much along the way, I knew I wanted to help others with theirs. I understand the stress, the guilt, the overthinking, and wondering if you went wrong somewhere. It can be tough; we all want the best for our furry family member, but sometimes it’s hard to know where to turn. Grumpy Dog Care strives to make you feel seen and understood while providing enrichment and a sense of predictability and normalcy in your dog's life.

The Grumpy Dog Care Mission
Grumpy Dog Care’s mission is to provide guilt-free, judgement-free care and resources to all dog owners. Life can be stressful enough; the last thing you need is a misunderstood dog causing strife in your day-to-day. Whether it’s just a walk or helping to reinforce positive behaviors, Grumpy Dog Care will help you every step of the way! With force-free care, patience, and the insight to understand what your furry friend is trying to communicate, you'll be left with a better grasp on how to recognize and handle your dog’s wants and needs.

My Story
I was homeschooled along with my two siblings, which provided me with many opportunities to explore my interests, all of them involving animals. Every bird, mouse, or baby rabbit that the cats brought in was now under the care of Mini Vet, Laurel. 4-H was a short but enjoyable adventure, entering pet chickens into competitions and watching my sister win 1st place for her apple crumble! Our first family dog was fearful and reactive. My mom was determined to help gain her confidence; with time, learning, and training, she became a valued member of the family. I started volunteering as a farmhand at 9 years old and am lucky enough to still be working there now, all these years later. I got a job at a Humane Society, working in multiple positions, including a Pet Care Specialist, Behavior Specialist, Assistant Shelter Manager, and a Supervisor. Now I'm focusing all my attention on work and the wonderful little family I’m so lucky and thankful to have now.
